About Network

Network is the e-newsletter of the Museum Educator Roundtable, published three times yearly. The on-line publication is intended to be a hands-on resource with information relating to the daily work of museum educators. It offers museum educators with an opportunity to share their activities and learn more about the work of their colleagues.

You must be a MER member to contribute to Network.

Submission Guidelines

Published three times a year, Network is intended to be a useful resource with information relating to the daily work of museum educators.

If you would like to be considered as an author for a future column, please write to us at network@mer-online.org and include the following (no more than 2 pages double spaced):

  • an outline for the proposed article
  • an explanation of your interest and/or experience with this topic
  • the "repeat monthly column" in which your article should appear (see below)
  • your current contact information

Submission deadlines:

  • Spring/Summer issue: April 15
  • Fall issue: September 15
  • Winter issue: January 15

Repeat Monthly Columns Include:

  • Educator Spotlight: a narrative column featuring description of a current project as well as the story of someone's entry into the museum field
  • Websites for Educators: a review of any website (not necessarily museum related), which is deemed useful and interesting to educators (negative reviews are not published; this is a space to offer tips and promote helpful sites)
  • Exhibition/Program Review: a review of a program or exhibition from an educator's perspective, looking at audience needs and accessibility issues
  • Book Review: An educator's review of a book deemed relevant to Museum Education
  • Mark Your Calendar: listing of important upcoming meetings and programs
  • In the News: notes on members and their achievements
