Notes from the Chair

Notes from the ChairTransition—a passing from one condition, form, stage, activity, to another.

MER is in transition—and we thank you for your patience as the board adjusts to our next stage. The most visible changes are in our publications. With gratitude for her years of service, we say farewell to Wendy Pollock and welcome Monica Smith. Wendy was instrumental in finding Monica—and we are grateful to them both. We also need to thank Alexis Bierman Roberts, who was gracious enough to stay on as NETWORK editor for at least a year after she told us she wanted to resign. We are thrilled to welcome Mari Shopsis as the new editor starting this Fall. You will see Mari's skills in the next edition of Network.

The board itself is shifting in focus. Over the last year, the board has become more involved with the JME, with two board members serving on the editorial committee. In addition, we are working to develop partnership with other groups of educators to present programs that link to the JME. During our board meeting in August, we will be performing a board self-evaluation—watch NETWORK for our report!
